Learning Insights Partners with Caregivers, Educators, and Schools

Rachael Folkman is the lead School Psychologist & Educational Specialist at Learning Insights, LLC. Rachael’s ambition in founding this company stemmed from her extensive experience supporting families. She first started out creating a wellness program for youth in urban areas and then worked in early childhood by educating caregivers and coordinating services in the Help Me Grow early intervention program in Ohio. This fueled her desire to become a school psychologist to help all children and attend the John Carroll University graduate program, where she obtained her Masters in Educational Psychology and Specialist in School Psychology. She has a passion for prevention and this is reflected across her approach when overseeing and developing programs, supervising graduate students, leading at the district and state levels, and as a mental health advocate and school administrator. Rachael has learned that these combined experiences provide unique perspectives, so she aims to work hand-in-hand to provide strategic insight and services for all learners and their support systems. 

Rachael strives to be a resource caregivers can turn to for assistance in navigating the complicated educational systems to discover their child’s educational strengths (“glows”) and challenges (“grows”). She is on a mission to help promote a goal-oriented and growth mindset by removing barriers that stand in the way of learning. Rachael is enthusiastic about addressing the widening gap of mental health needs and providing unique executive functioning, self-regulation, and social emotional learning intervention services for all learners.

Rachael continues to specialize in many areas of interest that include: how neurodiversity such as ADHD, Autism, learning disorders like Dyslexia, and Anxiety disorders impact the way we learn and apply our skills; use of data-driven outcomes for effective decision making; supporting social justice issues and the needs of marginalized communities such as English Language Learners (ELL), LGBTQIA+, and gifted students; use of trauma-informed care, mental health, executive functioning, leadership skills for adults and children, mental health, psychopharmacology, and resiliency to prevent poor outcomes by promoting whole-child wellness; and telepsychology & technology advancement. Rachael enjoys advancing her knowledge and skills in effective teamwork and how to cultivate effective best practices for school organizational systems to build capacity and sustain initiatives, such as: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS).
